From the sound of it, Carlos Carrasco may not be a resident of The Forest City for too much longer. Reports around baseball have Cleveland fielding calls from a boatload of teams in regards to the starting pitcher.

According to Jerry Crasnick, what makes Carrasco so enticing is his moderate salary over the next four years. It probably also doesn’t hurt that Carrasco bookended his July with a one-hitter against Tampa (in which he took a no-no into the ninth inning) and a complete game, two-hitter against Oakland on Thursday. He’s coming off the best month of his season, and is the perfect “sell-high” candidate for Cleveland.

Of the teams interested in Carrasco, Boston and Chicago are making the most noise. Both seek arms with control that are locked into contracts beyond this season.

The Blue Jays were also reportedly in play until they acquired David Price yesterday. They’ve now, apparently, bowed out of the sweepstakes, favoring instead a potential short-term rental to make a postseason push.

For his career, Carrasco owns a 4.23 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. His numbers this year are a bit better at 4.03 and 1.15, though, as previously mentioned, he is coming off his best month of the season (3.72 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 38.2 innings pitched).
