The ‘Manny being Manny’ era in Boston was one of the most fun times for Red Sox fans as it helped bring a World Series title in 2004 — the first in almost 100 years — and then again in 2007. That era came to a screeching halt in 2008 when the All-Star outfielder was dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-way deal for Jason Bay.

Many believed that the 36-year-old star was beginning to dim a bit as his career was on the way down. That was not at all the case as he hit an incredible video game-like .396 with 17 homers and 53 RBI in just 53 games for the Dodgers.

What was even more impressive was the fact that he finished fourth in National League MVP voting after just 50-plus games.

It took Manny 104 games to basically match the power numbers from the previous second half of the season with the Dodgers and he was traded to the White Sox the next year.

People will never forget that magical 2008 summer when Manny became immortal.
