6. Braves get Teixeira for Andrus, Feliz, Harrison, Saltalamacchia
In 2007, Mark Teixeira was known as one of the best players in all of baseball. The 27-year-old slugging first baseman was a hot commodity and the Atlanta Braves desperately wanted to add a super-sized bat to the lineup, even though they knew they’d have to give up a ton in return.

Who did the Braves end up giving to the Rangers in exchange for the annual MVP candidate? Four, count ’em, four top-notch prospects who have ended up becoming solid major league ball players.
The first was Elvis Andrus. At the time, Andrus was an 18-year-old project who had the potential to be a very good shortstop at the professional level. Since then, the Venezuelan-born prodigy has put together a solid career for the Rangers, hitting .270 with 23 homers and 341 RBI.
Neftali Feliz was the next name. The hard-throwing reliever was no stranger to 100 mph on the radar gun, but his control was a bit of an issue. He came in and dominated, winning AL Rookie of the Year in 2010, recording 40 saves with a 2.73 ERA but has since struggled and is now with the Tigers.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia is one of the toughest names to spell in the major leagues as well as one of the hardest players to really get a finger on. The power-hitting catcher has had an up-and-down career and still sometimes shows flashes of who he was expected to be.
Lastly, the Rangers got Matt Harrison. The then-21-year-old lefty had yet to make his professional debut, but did shortly after and didn’t disappoint. He made the All-Star Game in 2012 and inked a long-term deal in the same season, but has played just nine games since then, struggling to stay healthy.
Teixeira, now the New York Yankees‘ first baseman, played just a season and a half with the Braves before moving on.
