The NFL Hall of Fame will allow Junior Seau’s family to speak at Canton after all.

When it was announced that legendary linebacker Junior Seau was going to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, there wasn’t a soul who disagreed with the honor. Where the anger about Seau’s induction into the Hall of Fame stemmed from was the decision to not allow his family to speak on his behalf — citing stupid rules about deceased players taking up too much time.

According to Alex Marvez from FOX Sports, the NFL Hall of Fame is going to allow Junior Seau’s daughter to speak at his induction ceremony this month.

This came after the tone deaf decision to bar his family from speaking, as to avoid any awkward moments relating his suicide with the impact the game had on his mental health.

It’s on secret that the violent impact his NFL career had on him lead to the untimely death of Junior Seau. He was found dead back in from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, with the major note about the way he killed himself being that he didn’t shoot himself in the head.

This is unfortunately common practice among modern football player who take their own lives, as avoiding a death that involves your head preserves the brain to be studied on for the effects of CTE. That’s what Seau did and his suicide is forever linked to the brain disease largely caused by playing the sport of football without proper equipment.

The NFL has been engaged in lawsuit after lawsuit about all of this and it’s going to come up more than once over Hall of Fame weekend. Having the decision to not allow the family of Seau to speak at Canton was about as tone deaf and obvious as it gets, but at least they’re getting it half right by reversing their decision to ban the family of a legend in the first place.
