20.
One of the most prestigious franchises in all of basketball are the Los Angeles Lakers. Not only have they won a handful of championships and boasted more than one dynasty at more than one time, they may possess the greatest all-time roster of talent in basketball history.

It’s nearly impossible to narrow down a starting five without someone feeling slighted, but try going up against this Fab Five and having any luck.

<span style=. 1947 - 1960; 1960 - Present. Western Conference. Los Angeles Lakers. 14. player

PG. He’s the definition of what we consider a point-forward, as Magic Johnson’s massive frame isn’t typical of point guards but that’s exactly what he was. He’s a forward playing point, and that added height pays off defensively with his offensive production making everyone who tries to defend him look silly.. Point Guard. Los Angeles Lakers. MAGIC JOHNSON

SG. He’s on the Mount Rushmore of Lakers stars, the Derek Jeter of basketball — minus the character. Kobe wants to win, he knows he’s good enough to win and he might only ever be happy if he plays on an all-time roster like this. Kobe has had good teams around him, but if he gets Magic in the same backcourt plus this massive frontcourt — that’s the best roster of all-time.. Shooting Guard. Los Angeles Lakers. KOBE BRYANT

ELGIN BAYLOR. SF. He tends to get swallowed up by the aura of names like Kobe, Magic and Kareem but Elgin Baylor was a stud for the Lakers in his day and is a lock to make the all-time roster. He averaged almost 30 points per game — that’s really all you need to know, even though there’s so much more to his game that makes him a legend.. Small Forward. Los Angeles Lakers

KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR. PF. He played center for the Lakers, but this goes hand-in-hand with letting Wilt Chamberlain play center. These two players on the court at the same time is violent for teams trying to score. There’s trying to score against a 50-foot brick wall and then there’s trying to score against a frontcourt defense consisting of Kareem and Wilt.. Power Forward. Los Angeles Lakers

WILT CHAMBERLAIN. C. He was a legend with the Warriors, but he is probably best remembered for being the best center in Lakers franchise history. Wilt Chamberlain is a God, and putting him in the same frontcourt as Kareem is something that would cause a problem for teams just trying to score one basket, let alone enough to make things competitive.. Center. Los Angeles Lakers
