18. player. 86.
Minnesota has been a basketball boneyard for far too long. Since going to the Conference Finals in 2004, the Wolves have been a dumpster fire mess of half realized dreams and shattered promises. They haven’t been around long enough to induce so much heartbreak — but when you’re consistently terrible, that’s what happens.

That’s what makes the bright spots something that Wolves fans cling to so much, and those bright spots sure are fun to look back at.

<span style=. 1989 - Present. Western Conference. Minnesota Timberwolves

It’s really a damn shame that the KG-Marbury relationship didn’t stick. Had the guard just swallowed his pride, he might be remembered as one of the best point guards of all-time. He didn’t want to live in the shadow of Garnett though and he ruined the best situation he was ever in.. Point Guard. Minnesota Timberwolves. STEPHON MARBURY. PG

SG. He was the first rising star the Wolves had when they drafted him in 1993, and he unfortunately didn’t stick around to be a true part of the KG era. Had that happened, who knows how deep into the postseason the Wolves could have gone with a Big 3 of KG-Marbury and Rider.. Shooting Guard. Minnesota Timberwolves. ISAIAH RIDER

SF. He’s often viewed as Kevin Garnett’s sidekick during the height of the Wolves’ peak in the 2000s, but Wally Szczerbiak was so much more than that. He was a perfect complimentary piece to have in that lineup and it helped mold him into a fan favorite and an important piece to the deep run the Wolves went on in 2004.. Small Forward. Minnesota Timberwolves. WALLY SZCZERBIAK

KEVIN LOVE. PF. The Wolves have a really good eye for finding talent in guys named Kevin but don’t know how to keep them around. Kevin Love was a superstar for the Wolves, and his bad year in Cleveland has made us forget just what a massive star he was with the Wolves. Like Garnett before him, Love was the Timberwolves and was the only reason anyone watched the team. His talents spoke for themselves and this all-time roster might finally be the team he needed to win with.. Power Forward. Minnesota Timberwolves

C. Each franchise has a seminal player, and that was Kevin Garnett for the Timberwolves. He put the team on the map, he gave them a name and made a basketball team from Minnesota relevant to the rest of the world. We like to remember KG winning a title in Boston or dying out in Brooklyn, but when he was at the height of his prime, there was no one more entertaining to watch than Kevin Garnett electrifying the Target Center.. Center. Minnesota Timberwolves. KEVIN GARNETT
