It’s been an interesting history for the Charlotte Hornets, as they moved, they returned, they changed their name and they changed it back. One thing has remained the same over the years though and that’s how exciting the team can be when everything falls perfectly into place.

That’s what happened over the early parts of the franchise’s existence, as players like Alonzo Mourning, Dell Curry and others came through the franchise and gave fans something to cheer about. The times haven’t always been good, but the Charlotte Hornets have enough history under their belt to have a pretty impressive all-time starting five.

<span style=. 1988 - Present. Point Guard. Charlotte Hornets. MUGGSY BOGUES. PG.
Always a fan favorite, the pint sized Bogues wowed NBA fans in the 90s with his hops despite being shorter than mostly everyone in the game, and the stands. This didn’t hold him back from being one of the best point guards in franchise history, and he has a special place in the hearts of NBA fans. He may not have the all-time numbers that others have, but Bogues has the grit and passion you want out of your point guard, and he’d be a deadly leader for an all-time Hornets squad.

Nowadays, Dell Curry is known as Steph Curry’s father — but that’s also helping today’s generation of NBA fan to recognize what a fantastic player the elder Curry was. Dell was perhaps the finest shooting guard the Hornets have ever known, and while there could be cases made elsewhere, our hindsight is reminding us of just what a special player Curry was. He was a fan favorite, he was a stud in the Hornets lineup and he is an all-time franchise great, without a doubt.
. Shooting Guard. Charlotte Bobcats. DELL CURRY. SG

Charlotte Bobcats. GLEN RICE. SF.
Glen Rice is another underrated superstar in his day, but Hornets fans know him well. He was a rock solid forward for the team during his era and is one of the best forwards of all-time. Like some of his counterparts, the numbers to consider him against all-time greats aren’t there, but you have to take into account what Rice meant to the Hornets and how he helped put them on the map to get the true meaning of how special he is in Charlotte.
. Small Forward

AL JEFFERSON. PF. His time spent with the Bobcats and Hornets hasn’t been long, but already Al Jefferson is leaving a mark on the franchise. He’s been a linchpin for the frontcourt ever since arriving and he’s been indispensable and has already established himself as a pillar for the franchise. . Power Forward. Charlotte Bobcats

Perhaps the greatest player the Hornets and Bobcats have ever known has been big man Alonzo Mourning. He was the epitome of the franchise during his career and he’s gone down as not only a fan favorite but one of the best centers of all-time. Putting him in any all-time Hornets lineup is a no-brainer.. Center. Charlotte Hornets. ALONZO MOURNING. C
