Ranking the best sports cities in the United States
By Mike Dyce
30. Milwaukee
Unfortunately for Milwaukee they live in the shadow of Chicago, but their proximity means Milwaukee residents get access to that city’s events as well. The city is home to just two sports franchises in the Big Four of North American sports, boasting the Bucks (NBA) and Brewers (MLB).
The Bucks have become contenders in the Eastern Conference with young talent and Jason Kidd as the head coach. The Brewers have been a solid club over the years as well with a plethora of talent, like Ryan Braun and hearkening back to the days of Paul Molitor and Robin Yount. And who can forget Bob Uecker?!
In 2002, Miller Park hosted the MLB All-Star game. Milwaukee hosted the Frozen Four in 2006. Milwaukee has been a regular host to the WWE, both for their regularly scheduled television programs like Raw and Smack Down as well as pay-per-views. The 2014 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament also came to Milwaukee.
Mix in the fact that Madison, home of the Wisconsin Badgers is just a little over an hour away as well. That gives fans a steady stream of Big 10 college sports as well.
The state has the Green Bay Packers, but that’s a hike.
