6: Los Angeles Dodgers

ACQUIRED: RHP Mat Latos (from Marlins), LHP Alex Wood (from Braves), RHP Jim Johnson (from Braves), LHP Luis Avilan (from Braves), RHP Bronson Arroyo (from Braves), INF Jose Peraza (from Braves), OF Jose Tabata (from Pirates), LHP Grant Dayton (from Marlins)

Perhaps it was the thought that there was an unending stream of money flowing from Los Angeles that had Dodgers fans thinking there was something big happening at the deadline. L.A. was seemingly in on every major piece available on the market with most pundits expecting that they would come away with at least one huge addition.

Instead, they got Mat Latos, Alex Wood, and took on a whole lot of money.

The Dodgers were steadfast against including any of their top prospects in a prospective deal for pitching and as such, plugged the hole with Latos and Wood. Wood is a good grab, especially considering it only cost them a commodity in Hector Olivera and come minor prospects. However, neither carried the weight that Cole Hamels or David Price would have for a potential playoff rotation that already included Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke.

James Shields remains out there and could be a potential target should Los Angeles want to add ever more salary to their mix. However given their financial swing, the Dodgers would likely be better positioned to apply that money during free agency than settle now.
