Andre Berto seems pretty confident about what he plans on doing to Floyd Mayweather in their fight next month

On Tuesday afternoon it was officially announced that Floyd Mayweather would be fighting on September 12 and his opponent would be Andre Berto. Berto comes into this fight carrying a record of 30-3 with 23 knockouts, however, those three losses have come in his last six fights. Not exactly someone you would call “worthy” of getting in the ring with the best fighter in the world.

But, don’t tell Berto that. He’s coming into this fight with intentions to not only win, but to put Floyd down for the 10 count.

In a recent interview for BoxingScene.com, Berto says that he’s coming into Las Vegas on September 12 quite frankly to kick Floyd’s ass.

“I’m coming to kick Floyd’s ass on September 12. Best believe that I plan to bring it to Floyd and I’m not concerned about what 48 other fighters have been unable to do,” he said. “Somebody is getting knocked out and it won’t be me. You don’t want to miss this.”

Well, those are some pretty lofty expectations there, but at least he’s coming in with some sort of confidence here. Even though the entire boxing world is pretty much against him, he’s going to play the “Me vs. The World” card, which can work sometimes.

But the thing with his “you don’t want to miss this” comment is that, yes, people are going to miss this. The nearly $70 price tag for this fight on PPV, coupled with Berto’s troubles in the ring as of late, don’t really seem all that worth it. Pretty much everyone knows that Mayweather is going to make easy work of this 31-year-old out of Florida, so don’t really expect the buyrate numbers to be all that spectacular.

Should Berto be right, though, it would be one of the biggest upsets since Buster Douglas took down Mike Tyson.
