CM Punk comments on Hulk Hogan controversy

CM Punk offered his thoughts on the Hulk Hogan scandal in a recent interview.

Hulk Hogan is still on the minds of wrestling fans almost two weeks after his racist tirade was made public. Since his remarks were exposed, WWE has washed the company of Hogan in virtually every way imaginable and Hogan has become a pariah in the wrestling world. Still, he’s often the primary topic of discussion and debate among fans and people associated with the business.

One of those people falling into the latter category is former WWE superstar CM Punk. In a recent interview with Red Eye Chicago just catching up with the now UFC fighter, Punk was asked about everything going on with Hogan. This is how he responded:

"I don’t really have a comment on it. Like I said, though, stuff that you say can come back and bite you in the ass. Everybody gets what they deserve in the world. Hopefully he issued a sincere apology and we can all move on from it.We all have said stupid things, and I don’t think you should judge somebody on what they said a long time ago. But some of the stuff is harsher than other things. It is what it is."

For the most part, not much of what Punk had to say was ground-breaking or anything even remotely close. 90 percent of his comments were basically recycled clichés that we’ve heard from many people associated with WWE since Hogan’s comments went online.

However, the interesting tidbit is Punk saying that everybody gets what they deserve in the world. While that could very well be Punk’s core guiding philosophy, it’s pretty biting in regards to Hogan. It’s not a stance that’s arguable in this current situation, but it’s just yet another personality coming down hard on Hogan.

Punk probably won’t be the last big name to comment on the Hogan controversy or even to rightfully shame him for the whole thing. Even if WWE and wrestling fans do one day forgive Hogan, it’s obviously going to be a long process that we are just at the beginning of.
