Report: Patrick Kane investigation involves rape

Patrick Kane is the subject of a police probe in Hamburg, and the latest reports are not encouraging — and also not confirmed. 

UPDATE: According to the Buffalo News and Tim Graham, a woman is alleging that Patrick Kane sexually assaulted her over the weekend. The report states that a rape kit was indeed used on the woman when she reported the incident.

"A local woman has accused Kane of a sexual assault, the sources said.The law enforcement sources said that the woman went to a hospital and that tests using a rape kit were performed."

Chicago Blackhawks star forward Patrick Kane is currently under investigation by Hamburg for an incident that allegedly involves rape. It’s a touchy subject, to say the least, and it’s worth noting that facts aren’t totally in on this case and jumping to conclusions is the wrong thing to do.

That’s not stopping the worst scenario possible for Kane from being being reported.

According to Buffalo News reporter Tim Graham, the investigation involving Patrick Kane is a rape investigation. That doesn’t, however, mean that Kane is directly being investigated and it’s worth noting that he hasn’t been arrested and no warrant is out for such a thing.

Graham clarifies the situation in later tweets.

Graham again clarifies that there is a difference between being arrested and turning yourself in.

This is serious, and it’s nothing to joke about or take lightly. It’s also not something to take as gospel, since the police aren’t commenting publicly on the investigation — which is exactly that, an investigation.

Kane was not arrested, he has not has a warrant issued for his arrest and police are not confirming that he is the main subject of the investigation. This could end up being really bad for Kane, the Blackhawks and the NHL but it could also be a situation where Kane needs to be questioned about something he wasn’t directly involved in but might have information about.

More details will be released when the police have furthered their investigation, but this is no doubt a situation that needs to be watched closely as more than just the reputation of Kane is on the line here.
