The Detroit Tigers are a mess, and now they’re fighting each other in the dugout.
When the Detroit Tigers started this season, they looked primed to make a serious run at the World Series. But injuries and some interesting moves at the trade deadline have changed things, and now it’s utter turmoil in Motown.
The Tigers traded away Yoenis Cespedes and David Price at the deadline after injuries ravaged the roster and depleted the team to the point where throwing in the towel seemed like a good idea. It wasn’t a total surrender, but the writing was on the wall enough for general manager Dave Dombrowski to be relieved of his duties.
Now the team is in-fighting in the most literal way possible.
This is not what fans want to see. First the team trades away two of its star players and seemingly throws in the towel on a World Series run. Then the organization fired general manager Dave Dombrowski and the wheels have fallen off completely.
The season isn’t over yet and we’ve seen teams surge over the last two months to go on deep postseason runs. But the Tigers are a dumpster fire that keeps getting worse — and more entertaining to watch.
