32. Atlanta Falcons

In 2014, the Falcons had the worst defense in the NFL. Unfortunately for Atlanta fans, some thing have changed, but not enough to make a huge impact. The Falcons fired head coach Mike Smith after a 6-10 season and replaced him with Dan Quinn, the former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator.

General manager Thomas Dimitroff did not stop there, signing Justin Durant and Brooks Reed to bolster the linebackers. However, both Reed and Durant are fringe starters, not players who are going to change the face of the unit. Dimitroff’s big swing was in the first round of the NFL Draft, taking defensive end Vic Beasley Jr. with the seventh-overall pick.

In today’s NFL, a defense needs to do two things. It must rush the passer and cover. Atlanta is relying heavily on Beasley to provide a rush, because there is nothing beyond him. In the secondary, there is not a single difference-maker. William Moore is the best of the bunch, a solid if unspectacular player. Desmond Trufant is the top corner, with rookie Jalen Collins hoping to break into the starting lineup. Needless to say, this is a group with many holes.
