NFL and Twitter agree to new deal to produce content

Twitter and the NFL will be producing some pretty awesome new content after striking a new deal with one another

The way society is, more people are likely to see news and video through Twitter. You’re more likely to see a person looking down on their phone when you walk down the street than talking to one another. Twitter has become one of the main ways people not only get fun videos and memes, but information.

The NFL recognizes that, and today they extended their deal with Twitter for another two years and will have even more content through that platform. The deal begins with the preseason games coming up on Thursday.

"With the partnership, the NFL will produce content such as breaking news and game analysis, highlights from previous seasons and custom game recaps that will be displayed through a mixture of promoted tweets and organic tweets. The move comes as Twitter TWTR, +9.10%   executives look at changes to simplify and create value on the platform, including focusing on live events."

It’s a win-win. Twitter gets exclusive content through their platform, which helps their bottom line as well as their value. It’s a way of getting more info out to the masses and more users on Twitter. It’s been a slow growth for the company, and the deal with the NFL just increased their stock, so this is a way to help investor confidence in the product.

For the NFL, it just gives them another vehicle of getting content out there. This year will mark the first time a game is exclusively streamed through Yahoo, so having more exclusive content through another media service shouldn’t be that surprising.
