The PGA Championship is back this weekend — and so is Rory McIlroy.

After missing the British Open last month, Rory McIlroy is going to be returning to the major PGA circuit for the PGA Championship this weekend.

It’s a much anticipated return for McIlroy and one that he’s not taking lightly in the slightest. We knew he was probably going to return for this weekend’s tournament, but he’s going all in on guaranteeing that we’re going to see the Rory that we all tune in to see.

While doing press for the PGA Championship, McIlroy noted that he is ‘100 percent ready to go’ for the tournament — which is a delight for fans everywhere.

This is great news for golf fans, as something that has been missing from the last few tournaments — most notably from the British Open — was McIlroy. He’s one of the game’s most exciting stars, and without him there will always be an element of the field missing.

Having McIlroy back for the PGA Championship is going to be a big draw for more than a few golf fans. With Tiger Woods in a lull but climbing back and Jordan Spieth getting knocked off his pedestal at the British Open, the playing field is leveling back out for real rivalries to develop.

We all flocked to Paul Dunne during the British Open and swooned over a possible rivalry with Spieth. But there’s only one Irish golfer at the moment we truly want to see go toe-to-toe with Spieth on a regular basis and that’s the much more accomplished McIlroy. He’s a fan favorite, at the top of his game and his return is going to be welcomed with open arms this weekend.

The PGA Championship begins on Thursday at Whistling Straits, with coverage on ESPN.
