Anthony Rizzo is more than just a star for the Chicago Cubs, he’s the master of making the most amazing foul ball catches ever.
The Chicago Cubs are suddenly — or finally — one of the most exciting teams in baseball. Theo Epstein’s first few years with the team didn’t garner much praise or results, but this year has been a massive turnaround for the Cubbies and it’s making them exciting again. Not since the early 2000s has there been this much buzz on the North Side about baseball, and the young core of players that Chicago has is the main reason for that.
Anthony Rizzo, who may be one of the oldest of the young group of players, is leading the charge when it comes to excitement. He can hit home runs like the best of them and is defensively one of the best first baseman in baseball.
He proved that once again on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field when he made perhaps the most ridiculous catch of the season so far.
Rizzo tracked a ball into foul territory, climbed up onto the wall and waited patiently for the ball to come down before extending into the crowd to make the out.
There’s amazing, there’s phenomenal and there is this Anthony Rizzo catch.
It’s been a long time since the Cubs have been good and exciting at the same time but that’s something we’re finally seeing and baseball is much better because of it.
