The NBA season is right around the corner, and the Cleveland Cavaliers know who they have to prepare for on their 2015-16 schedule.
King James has returned, but the crown remains too heavy to bear. That’s was the case last season as LeBron James got the Cleveland Cavaliers back to the NBA Finals, but they couldn’t take home the title for the first time in franchise history. This season the Cavs are going to have a similar approach to what they did last season but have added a few different elements with the additions of Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson.
It’s not going to be an easy road back to the NBA Finals, but the Cavaliers are no doubt the favorites heading into the regular season this year. They’ve basically assembled the same team they had last years sans Mike Miller and Brendan Haywood — neither of whom played much at all last season — and added some veterans who might be able to contribute.
The question is can the Cavaliers stay healthy long enough to make a run at the title? They very much could have won the NBA Finals last year had they not lost Anderson Varejao, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving over the course of the season. Losing Love and Kyrie in the postseason was a brutal blow that warped the course of their championship hopes.
Now that the team has revamped and recharged — and experienced the pain of losing in the Finals — they’re primed to make the run we’ve been waiting for them to make ever since they drafted LeBron back in 2003. There’s no guarantees when it comes to the Cavaliers, something their fans can very much attest to, but this season looks like it could finally end differently than all the rest.
