The New York Mets pulled off a scorcher of a trade when they acquired Yoenis Cespedes, and that move is already paying off.

When the New York Mets acquired slugger Yoenis Cespedes from the Tigers at the trade deadline, they knew they were getting a talented player who might be able to put them over the edge. That’s a deal that’s already paying off for the Mets, as Cespedes has not only given fans something to come out to Citi Field for, but he’s making the team better than they were pre-trade.

On Wednesday night, Mets fans at Citi Field saw the slugger part of Cespedes that we’ve seen win the Home Run Derby twice in his career.

With New York up 2-0 over the Rockies, Cespedes blasted his first home run with the team, such to the delight of fans in attendance.

Cespedes and the Mets are pushing hard for the postseason and want to catch the led in the NL East. They’re also in the thick of the Wild Card chase, and it’s moments like this that make Mets fans excited to have the slugger in town.

Also, while the home run wasn’t the most impressive bomb Cespedes has ever hit, we’re more than certain he’d be able to throw the ball as far as he hit it on Wednesday night.
