Bats

The big issue with Mets all season long has been their offense. Now they actually may have enough to get by. Travis d’Arnaud is back from another injury and has an OPS over .800 when he plays.

Lucas Duda has found his power stroke, hitting 11 homers since the start of July after having just 10 through June. He’s batting .324 this month with an OPS over 1.000.

The Mets can rotate five players at second, short and third depending on the matchups, something manager Terry Collins hadn’t been able to do for most of the season. He can ride the hot hand as much as he wants to.

Daniel Murphy can play three infield spots. Ruben Tejada has stabilized the shortstop position. Kelly Johnson can play second, first and the outfield. Wilmer Flores has become everyone’s favorite Met after almost being traded. Now he’s delivering clutch hits. Juan Uribe gives them some pop at third.

The Mets may not have landed Carlos Gomez, but Yoenis Cespedes has been pretty darn good since being acquired. He has six RBI, one home run and has given the Mets a true right-handed power bat. Michael Conforto has showed why the team made him a first round pick last year. Curtis Granderson has given them pop out of the leadoff spot. Juan Lagares and Michael Cuddyer give them options against lefties.
