Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Kevin White might miss the entire 2015 season with a shin injury.

The Chicago Bears needed to bolster their offense in the offseason to make sure they didn’t fall into the rut that had been dug for them during the Marc Trestman era. Fans thought the right step was taken when West Virginia speedster Kevin White was drafted in the Top 10, but things have taken a very Bears-ian turn for the worse.

According to Josina Anderson from ESPN, the Bears rookie is expected to miss the first half of the season after undergoing shin surgery.

The word from the Bears is even less encouraging, as they announced shortly thereafter that the team is under the impression White might miss his entire rookie season.

This is not exactly the way the Bears were hoping to kick off their season. White hasn’t been a factor at all since being drafted in April but there was hope that he’d rest up over the course of training camp and ease his way into things this season.

That’s clearly not going to be the case anymore, as the Bears are in a situation where they’ll be lucky if they see White at all during his rookie campaign.

Not all hope is lost though. Lest we forget that Odell Beckham Jr missed the first handful of games last season and managed to be the most exciting rookie we saw the entire year. Obviously things are different with White possibly missing the entire season, but that’s not a fatal blow to his future impact with the Bears, a team that wasn’t likely to go anywhere fast anyways.
