Rugby player Jarryd Hayne busts out 53-yard run for 49ers
By Mike Dyce
Former rugby player Jarryd Hayne broke out a huge 53-yard run in his first NFL game with the San Francisco 49ers.
The San Francisco 49ers got a bit creative this offseason, bringing in Australian and rugby star Jarryd Hayne. He got action in his first preseason game hitting the field against the Houston Texans defense.
And he broke off a huge 53-yard run to really make an impression in his first real NFL action.
Now he benefitted from some great blocking and didn’t have a whole lot of work to do, but he hit the hole and got up field in a hurry and showed some shifty moves downfield.
As a 49ers fan you have to be enthusiastic about this experiment and slightly curious to see how it plays out. If Hayne keeps breaking off plays like this it might not be long before some other NFL teams start to think outside the box when it comes to finding talent.
Hayne will certainly be a player NFL fans will want to keep an eye on throughout the preseason as he tries to make an NFL roster.
