Jordan Spieth’s second-place finish in the PGA Championship moves him to No. 1 on the world golf rankings.
Jordan Spieth’s quest for a third major in a single calendar year came to an end on Sunday. Despite playing brilliantly and finishing the tournament at -17, Spieth couldn’t catch Jason Day who won the tournament with a score of -20.
Still, Spieth won on the big day by moving up the world rankings and becoming the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world, passing Rory McIlroy.

It wasn’t the only historically significant achievement Spieth had on the weekend, he also set the record for lowest cumulative score in Majors in a calendar year.

He also dominated his competitors in the majors this year.
Aside from the two majors Spieth won, he had top five finishes in every major this year, which puts him on a short list of impressive golfers including Woods and Jack Nicklaus.
