New York Post trolls Geno Smith (Photo)

Not that it’s particularly hard to do, but the New York Post continues to lay into Geno Smith for getting knocked out.

When the New York Jets hired Todd Bowles this offseason, they assumed that with a laid back head coach would come a laid back demeanor for their team. That couldn’t have been more wrong of an assertion, as things are as wild in New York as they ever were under Rex Ryan.

Fans can trash Rex all they want, but at least his players weren’t breaking each others jaws. That’s what happened last week at Jets camp, when Geno Smith had his face broken after he refused to pay a $600 debt he should have never been dealing with in the first place.

Since having his jaw broken, Geno has been the butt of just about every joke you can think of and it’s not stopping anytime soon. Unfortunately for the young quarterback, he had his jaw broken in the most gossipy city in America, and on a team where there’s nothing better to talk about.

The New York Post continues to go in on Geno, trolling him in the latest edition of their publication — and we wouldn’t expect any less.

It’s not outright funny that Geno got his jaw broken, because that’s assault. But it’s the circumstances in which his jaw was broken that make us chuckle more out of obviousness than anything else.

This is so atypical of the Jets that our laughter stems from wondering why it didn’t happen sooner, and the trolling is of the most softball variety there possibly is.
