9. Alan Page

To some of the readers, Alan Page might not be a familiar name, but he was without a doubt one of the baddest defensive linemen of his generation. Page was the anchor of the notorious Minnesota Vikings defense of the 70s, a group labeled the “Purple People Eaters.”

Finding a starting place for Page’s list of accolades isn’t easy, he was a nine-time Pro Bowler and a nine-time All-Pro during his career. Before Brett Favre was setting iron man streaks in the NFL, Page played in 218 consecutive games without an absence. He recorded 148.5 sacks over the course of his career.

Page was so dominant that he won the NFL MVP award in 1971 as a defensive player, the first to do so and one of only two to ever do so.

The one accolade that eluded him during his career was a Super Bowl, but he came close. Page played in four Super Bowls with the Vikings, one of only 11 players who can claim that statistic. The Vikings lost all four of those games however, leaving Page without a ring on his hand.

Page was inducted into both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
