Yankees pitcher Bryan Mitchell was drilled with a line drive on Monday as they opened up against the Twins
As they look to stay on top in the American League East, the New York Yankees opened up their series with the Minnesota Twins on Monday night in the Bronx. Well, things got pretty scary in this one early, and hopefully Yankees pitcher Bryan Mitchell will be alright.
In the second inning of this one with the Twins up to bat, Mitchell fired off a pitch and unfortunately it came right back at him and he didn’t have time to recover. The ball ended up drilling Mitchell right in the face in what was a pretty scary scene.
You never, ever like to see something like that take place. Again, hopefully everything with Mitchell will be alright when the results come back. One bit of good news, though, is that he was able to leave the field under his own power.
Scary scene in NY. #Yankees' pitcher Bryan Mitchell got hit in the face with a line drive.

He walked off the field & we wish him the best
As more becomes available on the condition of Mitchell, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
