Yankees surprise college baseball player who lost his mother in Charleston shooting (Video)

The New York Yankees, with a little help from WWE superstar John Cena and The Today Show, surprised a young man who lost his mother recently with a pretty cool gift

Recently we were all treated to the horrific story that a gunman in Charleston, South Carolina had walked into a church and not long after opened fire on the folks in attendance. It was yet another terrible reminder that we live in a harsh world, and unfortunately, people who lost family members that night will never really have that pain taken all away.

However, the New York Yankees recently did their best to ease things up just a tad for one young man who lost his mother on that night.

Chris Singleton is a baseball player for Charleston Southern University, and on Monday, he got a surprise that indeed did put a smile on his face. With WWE superstar John Cena guest hosting The Today Show, three Yankees players showed up and they revealed to Singleton that he would be throwing out the first pitch in Yankee Stadium on Monday night.

It was just an incredible moment for a young man that’s been through more than enough as of late, and you could tell how excited he was when none other than Brett Gardner, Alex Rodriguez and Dellin Betances walked out.

That was quite the gesture from the Yankees to make this happen for Singleton on Monday night, and no doubt he’ll go out on that mound and take full advantage of this opportunity.
