Miguel Cabrera misses pickoff, still throws out Dexter Fowler (Video)
By Josh Hill
Miguel Cabrera displayed why he’s one of the best players in the game on Tuesday night when he turned an error into an out.
It has been a while since we’ve seen Miguel Cabrera in action for the Detroit Tigers, and there was some considerable rust to be shaken off in his first games back. The rust still isn’t off in the Tigers game against the Chicago Cubs, as he screwed up what is a pretty routine play in baseball.
The pickoff isn’t an art form like it used to be, where pitchers try to fake out runners with quick moves and fancy tricks. But it’s a whole different ballgame when you’re so crafty that you fake out your own player — which is what happened to Cabrera against the Cubs.
On a pickoff attempt in the bottom of the first inning, Miguel Cabrera missed the ball completely thanks to not having his glove on — and he still managed to make the out.
Cabrera’s glove wasn’t even on, he basically threw it at the ball and was still able to recover and throw out Fowler at second base.
Fowler isn’t a slow guy, and Cabrera isn’t at 100 percent yet — which makes how this happened even harder to believe.
