20. Washington Nationals

In theory I should love, or LOVE, the Washington Nationals’ uniforms. And part of me does.

The curly-cue “W” on the white home jersey tops is sweet. It replaced the former home tops which read “Nationals” across the front. Those were fine, but the “W” is better.

On the road, the team goes with a standard gray color with “Washington” spelled out in a red cursive. It works. But, in my opinion, they mess it up with the road hats, which are dark blue with a red bill. I suggest they either keep the same red hats they wore with their home whites, or go with an all blue cap as they once did.

At the same time, I’m not a big fan of the red cap with blue bill they sport with the red top alternates at home. I also miss the dark blue alternates they’ve played with at times—though they have mostly been used as a holiday jersey.

The dark blue alternates seem like they could be a good fit in the future.

Then again, in the stifling heat of a Washington, D.C. summer the dark blues wouldn’t work too well. They’d probably have to act exclusively as a road alternate jersey.

If a team has two alternates, in my opinion they each should be relegated to just one role, either home or away.

Next: Probably could have gone lower, but hey it's my list!
