Eli Manning is 34 years old and has one more major payday ahead of him. Manning’s contract with the New York Giants expires after this season, leaving the veteran exposed to the free-agent market. Recent reports have had the two sides talking about doing an extension before the season, with the main snag being that Manning wants to be the highest-paid player in the league.

On Wednesday, Manning showed a rare amount of annoyance and contempt when he told the media that the reports are unfounded, per Dan Graziano of ESPN.

"“The reports are all wrong,” Manning said before Giants practice. “That’s never been said, it’s never come out of my mouth, I’ve never said it to my agent, I don’t know where people are getting their information.”"

Manning is very tough to quantify when it comes to future worth. He is certainly further toward the end of his career than the beginning and has not been to the playoffs since 2011. However, Manning is one of the best clutch quarterbacks we have seen in the past 25 years and has a pair of Super Bowl rings to prove it.

For his career, Manning has thrown for 39,755 yards with 259 touchdowns and 185 interceptions. Perhaps most valuable is his durability, with Manning never missing a game due to injury in his 11-year career. While the former top-overall pick in 2004 makes his share of mistakes, he has always been a winner and capable of throwing for a litany of yardage, evidenced by his 4,933 yards in 2011 and 4,410 more in 2014.

It would be unfathomable to see New York let Manning walk. The Giants don’t have anybody on the roster seen as the next franchise quarterback, leading most to believe Manning will get another sizable commitment from the front office.
