Intangibles

There is something to be said for having been there before in sports. It does really help. Bruce Bochy knows how to push the right buttons and make the most out of all parts of his roster.

Madison Bumgarner just wins in the postseason. He’s 26 years old and is already 7-3 with a 2.14 ERA in the postseason, including a 0.25 ERA in the World Series.

This group hasn’t lost in the postseason. It’s like the Yankees of the late 1990s.

They have reinforcements on the way, as well. Mike Leake is coming back. Tim Hudson is close. Andrew Susac is on his way to give the Giants more options along with Buster Posey. Tim Lineceum may be ready to ramp up his throwing soon. They can put him in the bullpen to give his hip more of a break.

Angel Pagan may be able to get into rehab games sooner rather than later.

The Giants have all the pieces. They can win the Wild Card if they have to, and go from there. They did it in commanding fashion last season.

With some additional health and maybe a trade by the end of the month, the Giants could find themselves back in October. That would be bad news for the rest of the National League.
