Fantasy Football 2015: 2 QB PPR Ten Team Mock Draft
Football is finally here and the mock draft season is in full swing. Google “mock draft” and your little fantasy football riddled brain is going to explode with the sheer amount of analysis at your fingertips. It’s infuriating. It’s addictive. It’s everything we love about August. And as you sift through this endless sea of fantasy articles you’ll find one little nugget of fantasy truth: WAIT ON A QUARTERBACK. It seems rational enough. The QB position is as deep as it’s ever been. You obviously don’t want to be the moron that overpays for one. Right?

Well, not so fast. What happens when a league format goes against everything experts preach? What happens when you simple can’t ignore one of the positions on your team?
Weird things. Weird things happen.
At least that’s what we found when 10 of your favorite Fantasy CPR experts got together for a 10-team 2-QB PRR mock. From Calvin Johnson (who was a consensus top five pick a year ago) going in the third round to ESPN autopick logic, things did in fact get pretty weird.
Here are the results of our mock draft. Do with them as you like. Team’s McKay and Brant were both on autopick. So now we know what teams look like if they take waiting on a QB to the extreme.

Bear Goggles On
Analysis:
Aaron Rodgers at three and Andrew Luck at seven isn’t going to happen for you, so don’t count on it. And I was shocked to see them go so late in this format. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are the only two quarterbacks to go in the first round – as they are definitely in a tier of their own for the time being. Other than that, the first round is relatively chalk and I don’t see a huge variation of this in any PPR format.
My Pick: C.J. Anderson
Some people are making the case that Anderson could be worth a top five pick. And seeing that he’s currently in place to be the bellcow in a Gary Kubiak offense and still has Peyton Manning handing him the ball, I don’t see any reason not to be optimistic. I can’t lie here though, if Eddie Lacy had slipped to me at eight I would have been ecstatic. Of the consensus top three backs (Peterson, Bell, Lacy) I see him as the one with the highest floor and a considerably high ceiling in Green Bay’s offense.
Who I really wanted: Eddie Lacy, Marshawn Lynch
Best Values: Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, Eddie Lacy
Best Pick: Andrew Luck (1.7)

Call to the Pen
Analysis:
Drew Brees was the lone QB to go in round two and it was surprising to see Peyton Manning slip through it unclaimed. Curiously enough only three quarterbacks went in the first two rounds – making it plausible enough to wait on your QB1 until rounds three through five. Elsewhere, we see Gronk slip to 18th overall, which is an incredible value when you look at the point disparity he will likely provide at the TE position from week to week. I also see Jones as quite the snag at 20th overall, as he’s poised to build on what was a stellar 2014 campaign.
My Pick: Demaryius Thomas
First things first, I REALLY wanted to take Julio Jones here. I am a Falcons fan, so maybe I’m biased. But I currently have him ranked as my WR3, behind only D. Thomas and Antonio Brown. That said, I played it safe here and took the highest targeted receiver in the league. And he should hopefully see an extra look or two come his way with Julius Thomas finding a home in Jacksonville this offseason.
Who I really wanted: Content with my pick. Although Gronk could have arguably been a better value.
Best Values: Drew Brees, Rob Gronkowski, Julio Jones
Best Pick: Rob Gronkowski (2.9)
Next: Round 3

Beyond the Flag
Analysis:
Wilson and Peyton finally off the board. Great value. Shocking value for a 2QB format. Justin Forsett should prove to be a PPR monster under offensive wizard Marc Trestman – who brought you Matt Forte’s legendary 2014 catchapalooza. I have my doubts about Mike Evans and his new quarterback – especially with Vincent Jackson and a supposedly emerging Austin Seferian-Jenkins in the mix. But they should have to throw plenty. A.J. Green is one of my favorite bounce-back candidates. Don’t forget he was a top-four receiver in 2012 and 2013.
My Pick: T.Y. Hilton
Hilton scares me a little this season. There are a lot of mouths to feed in the Colts offense. Here’s to hoping that Luck continues to chuck the ball at a record-breaking pace. But his floor is relatively high and he should have his blow up weeks. Andre Johnson and Frank Gore continue to come at a better price in my mind though.
Who I really wanted: A.J. Green, Alshon Jeffery, Justin Forsett
Best Values: Peyton Manning, Russell Wilson, A.J. Green, Justin Forsett
Best Pick: Peyton Manning. Everyone is predicting a steep decline in production based off the back end of last season. While that very well may happen, he’s going to be a top three QB until he proves otherwise in my mind. He’s the San Antonio Spurs of quarterbacks.

(32) Team Nicks – Ben Roethlisberger QB
(33) Team McKay – Alfred Morris RB
(34) Team Matson – Matt Ryan QB
(35) Team Marteny – Brandin Cooks WR
(36) Team Fuqua – Cam Newton QB
(37) Team Bernstein – Tony Romo QB
(38) Team Pelesky – Melvin Gordon RB
(39) Team Townsend – Ryan Tannehill QB
(40) Team Dash – Lamar Miller RB
Round: 5
(41) Team Dash – Frank Gore RB
(42) Team Townsend – Tom Brady QB
(43) Team Pelesky – Carlos Hyde RB
(44) Team Bernstein – Philip Rivers QB
(45) Team Fuqua – Kelvin Benjamin WR
(46) Team Marteny – Matthew Stafford QB
(47) Team Matson – Jordan Matthews WR
(48) Team McKay – DeAndre Hopkins WR
(49) Team Nicks – Jimmy Graham TE
(50) Team Brent – Julian Edelman WR
Analysis:
After seeing just five quarterbacks go in the first three rounds, we saw EIGHT jump off the board in rounds four through five. In 2QB leagues, signal callers generally come off the board in bunches. And as it is with most positional runs, it’s better to be the one starting the trend rather than playing catch-up.
Emmanuel Sanders was a top-five wideout last season. With Julius Thomas out of town, it would be reasonable to see the same number of targets at the very least – if not a slight uptick. His ADP remains an outstanding value at the hand of the low expectations for Manning. Sanders isn’t without risk, but the risk-reward relationship definitely tilts well in his favor. Fuqua caught a bad break with Kelvin Benjamin, who if you haven’t heard, is out for the season with a torn ACL. Just another example of why you NEVER hold your real draft until September.
My Pick(s): Ben Roethlisberger, Jimmy Graham
I was happy to snag who I consider a top five QB in round four. Big Ben is obviously about as streaky as a QB comes, but here’s to hoping that my first three picks can carry me through his down weeks. Jimmy Graham, on the other hand, was a pleasant surprise in round five. Because while he may be in a new system, we know two things; that he’s going get plenty of dump offs over the middle of the field and plenty of red zone looks. Lynch’s presence on the goal line and Wilson’s ability to roll out of the pocket on any given play should give Graham the most attractive coverage’s of his young career.
Who I really wanted: Round four, content. Round Five, content – although I target Frank Gore wherever and whenever I can this year.
Best Values: Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan, Frank Gore, Julian Edelman, Jimmy Graham
Best Pick(s): Round 4, Ben Roethlisberger or Matt Ryan. Your pick. Round 5, Frank Gore.

(79) Team Townsend – Eric Decker WR
(80) Team Dash – Jeremy Maclin WR
Middle-Round Analysis & Values:
Round 6: Travis Kelce, Sam Bradford
Many people are pegging Kelce as the number two overall tight end behind Gronk. I don’t know if I would take it quite that far yet, but he certainly belongs in that conversation as long as Andy Reid continues to give him opportunities – the talent is clearly there. Bradford has under-produced throughout his career to this point mostly because of injury and has shown glimpses of promise when he’s actually on the field. If he can stay healthy he’s got one hell of an opportunity in Chip Kelly’s fast-paced offense.
Round 7: Carson Palmer, Joseph Randle, Golden Tate
Carson Palmer was a solid QB1 in Bruce Arians vertical offense before going down last season. There’s no reason to think he can’t resume that production. He’s one of my favorite draft targets and his ADP is outstanding. Snag him whenever possible. Randle appears to be in line to inherit the Cowboys offensive line. That alone is enough to warrant the investment. He’s risky, yes. But his ceiling is high. Fuqua paid a great price for him here. Tate has shown he’s one of the leagues most efficient receivers. And if we know two things about the Lions offense it’s that Calvin Johnson will draw double coverage and Matthew Stafford will flirt with leading the league in pass attempts. This all point to another successful campaign for Tate.
Round 8: Greg Olsen, Ameer Abdullah, Martellus Bennett, Vincent Jackson
With the recent injury to Kelvin Benjamin, Olsen’s ADP and value will likely skyrocket. He was Cam Newton’s safety blanket last season and he’ll rely on him more than ever now. Abdullah exploded against the Jets after this mock, so his price in the mock is much cheaper than it will likely be by preseason’s end. He’s already jumped to RB19 and some people are anticipating that his value could be as high as round three before all is said and done. Bennett was a PPR monster last season. With Brandon Marshall out of town and Alshon Jeffery adjusting to his role as top-dog, Bennett should continue to see one of the highest targets per game average among tight ends. Jackson is a cheap investment opposite Mike Evans. Think of his as Roddy White to Julio Jones. He may not finish in the top five, but he could very well squeak into the top-18 at a quarter of the price of the sophomore.
My Pick(s): Eli Manning, C.J. Spiller, Ameer Abdullah
I was thrilled to nab E. Manning as my QB2. He comes with more risk than most would like to admit (let’s not forget he’s led the league in interceptions three times now), but OBJ, Shane Vereen and the return of Victor Cruz give him a more than serviceable arsenal. C.J. Spiller and Ameer Abdullah will serve as a variation between my RB2 and Flex. Both are primed for big PPR seasons in pass-heavy offenses. I encourage targeting both.

(120) Team Dash – Steve Smith Sr. WR
Best pick of each round & analysis:
Round 9: Larry Fitzgerald
Had Fitzgerald finished the season without injury, he was on pace to finish as a top 15 wideout. With Michael Floyd battling injury and the Cardinals ready to dive back into their aerial attack, he’s a savvy veteran in a high-powered offense. He should post fringe WR2 numbers all season at a WR4 price.
Honorable mentions: L. Blount, R. Jennings, R. White
Round 10: Teddy Bridgewater
Norv Turner, Adrian Peterson, Mike Wallace, Charles Johnson, Kyle Rudolph. The glove may not throw the ball a ton, but when he does he gets it to his target. I like him for a sneaky top-10 QB campaign.
Honorable mentions: Chris Ivory, Kendall Wright, John Brown
Round 11: Arian Foster
Who knows when he comes back. But I’m willing to bet before the playoffs – and that alone is worth a roster stash. Maybe we all forgot about him. Maybe we were all just biding our time. Congrats on team Dash for pulling a fast one. It should pay off when all is said and done.
Honorable mentions: Martavius Bryant, Danny Woodhead
Round 12: Steve Smith Sr.
Another Dash steal. He’s retiring after this season, and if there’s one thing we know about Steve Smith, it’s that he won’t go out quietly. Not to mention Torrey Smith’s departure won’t hurt his value.
Honorable mentions: Pierre Garcon, Jordan Cameron
