NBA Pokemon: Steph Curry is Magmar

Magmar is famous for its fire-spewing abilities. Along with this, it is also a considerably quick Pokémon, and usually possesses impressive physical capabilities.”

Hmm, who does that sound like? Oh right, Steph Curry, duh. Fire-spewing abilities? Check. He can and will catch fire from three at any time, as he’s demonstrated throughout his career. I mean, the guy hit 286 threes last season, breaking his own record for most triples in a regular season. Then he went and broke Reggie Miller’s record for most threes in a single postseason, and did it in nine less games. It doesn’t matter if it’s off the dribble, catch-and-shoot, or fading away with a hand in his face, Steph is constantly a threat to light you up.

Considerably quick? Check. Steph has always been rather quick, but he made sure we were aware last season, putting numerous defenders on the ground, and leaving countless other flummoxed as he crossed them up with his new and improved dribbling skills. Oh, and he has one of the quickest releases in the league.

It is also said about Magmar that, “in battle, it blows out intense flames from all over its body as to intimidate its foes and incinerate its surroundings.” Uh, yeah, that’s pretty much an exact description of Steph Curry playing basketball. Like Magmar, Curry is not an imposing physical specimen, but he’s still intimidating. He just uses his elite skills to scare you rather than size.

Steph Curry may not (always) walk around with flames shooting out of his head, or a flame burning at the end of his tail, but his Pokemon equivalent is still Magmar.
