Madison Bumgarner once again on Friday night showed off his pretty solid skills at the plate, launching his fifth bomb of the year

San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner is arguably one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. This guy just keeps turning in performances on the mound that make us shake our heads, especially last year in the postseason. However, the spectacular feat that he’s pulling off in 2015 might be a little more impressive.

You see, if we’ve learned anything this year it’s that Bumgarner is no slouch at the plate with the bat in his hands. Yes, Mad Bum has some skills in the batting area, and on Friday night against the Pirates, he proved that to us once again.

In the second inning of this one with his team already up 3-1, Bumgarner launched an absolute bomb, a two-run shot, to further that lead for the Giants.

That shot right there was his fifth of the season, the most for a pitcher since the 2006 season. It’s always nice to have a pitcher that can go to the plate and help himself out every once in a while, but this is just absurd. We’re not trained to believe a pitcher can do this, yet here we are with Madison Bumgarner proving us all wrong.
