Bayley was able to overcome the odds and win the NXT Women’s Championship from Sasha Banks at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn

Stephanie McMahon came out to address the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn crowd and make way for the first of the two main events of the evening. After an expectedly incredible video package, Bayley made her way to the ring to much fanfare, followed by a fantastically over-the-top entrance from “The Boss” Sasha Banks:

The match began with Sasha taunting Bayley, but the challenger was having none of it as she started with some fiery offense:

However, Banks quickly was able to fight back, leading to some back-and-forth action that ultimately put Bayley in control as she hit a wicked Springboard Elbow Drop on Banks who was hung up on the ropes:

Bayley remained in control, including a creative dropkick with both women on the outside:

The champion was able to turn the tide, though, and began methodically breaking down Bayley. With some predictable mocking of Bayley, some grinding submissions, and basically tossing the challenger around, it seemed like the title would be staying around Banks.

Even when Bayley looked like she might be garnering some momentum, The Boss had an answer for every counter. That led to a vicious double-knee to the stomach on the top rope, but that was only good for a two-count:

Just when things seemed out of reach for Bayley, the fire returned to the challenger, but was extinguished again by Banks who disposed of Bayley to the outside. On the floor, Banks unwrapped Bayley’s previously injured hand and began to attack it, even throwing it off of the steel steps and smashing it between the stairs and the ring:

The officials were obviously concerned after Sasha’s attack and tried to subdue The Boss. However, Banks used the rope as a vault for a wicked dive to the outside that put her even more in control:

However, Banks got too cocky and Bayley began to fight back, showing a ton of power and resolve. After a Corner Suplex, Bayley tried to put Sasha away, but Banks locked in her finishing submission, the Banks Statement. Just as Sasha seemed ready to force Bayley to tap, a flip at the ropes let Bayley reverse it into a Bank Statement of her own. Sasha, however, was able to get to the ropes to break the hold. Bayley was then able to hit the Bayley To Belly Suplex, but Sasha kicked out at two: https://twitter.com/SenorLARIATO/status/635279299378049024

Bayley tried to finish The Boss off from the top rope, but a misfire put Sasha back in control briefly:

After almost being put away by the champ, Bayley was able to win a power struggle on the opposite top rope as before and hit a wicked Frankensteiner from there. That led to another Bayley To Belly and that was enough to crown Bayley the new NXT Women’s Champion:

After the match, Becky Lynch and Charlotte came to the ring to celebrate with Bayley. Sasha then came back into the ring to celebrate with Bayley as well. The four then held up four fingers, as the Four Horsewomen of NXT made their mark in Brooklyn:
