Starling Marte made sure the Pirates got the win on Sunday over the Giants with this walk-off home run

The Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants met on Saturday in a battle of two teams in second place in their respective divisions. Heading towards the month of September here, every win in baseball counts that much more, and the Pirates were able to stay one step ahead on Saturday, thanks to Starling Marte.

Entering the bottom of the ninth inning these two National League contenders were all knotted up at two, but Marte made sure that he’d take care of that little problem with one swing of the bat. After the ball sailed over the left field wall, it was all in the books and the Pirates came away with the win.

Now, you can certainly say that Marte was the MVP for the Pirates in this win. Earlier on in the game he robbed the Giants of a home run, which would have put the Pirates in a more difficult situation.

Yeah, you can most certainly say that Marte gets the gold start on Saturday night for the performance he put in against the Giants.

Those are the performances that prove helpful come October.
