10. 1994 Dallas Cowboys

This was a team that had won consecutive Super Bowls heading into the 1994 season, and yet there was ample turmoil. Head coach Jimmy Johnson came aboard the program in 1989 and took a 1-15 to the Super Bowl in only four seasons, largely through incredible drafting that included Darren Woodson, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Russell Maryland and many more.

Yet, Johnson and owner Jerry Jones – who played on the same college football team at the University of Arkansas – could not get along. The two decided to have a mutual split after the 1993 season, leaving the job to Barry Switzer. Switzer was a legend in the area, having coached the University of Oklahoma to multiple championships. In 1994, Switzer did a fine job, leading Dallas to a 12-4 mark and an NFC East title.

In the playoffs, the Cowboys roasted the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional round, spanking Brett Favre and Co., 35-9. However, Dallas could not overcome the San Francisco 49ers in their third consecutive matchup in the NFC title game. San Francisco scored 21 points in the first quarter and rolled to a 38-28 win at Candlestick Park. The Cowboys would be back the following year, winning their third title in four years.
