26. 1999 Jacksonville Jaguars

This team is always forgotten for a few reasons. Jacksonville had the national disadvantage of playing in a small market without a ton of superstars, causing it to be overlooked. Yet, the Jaguars were still only in their fifth season but head coach Tom Coughlin had the engine revving for a Super Bowl.

Jacksonville was incredibly dominant that season, going 14-2 behind an offense that featured Jimmy Smith, Keenan McCardell, Mark Brunell and Fred Taylor. The season began with an unmitigated 41-3 beating of the San Francisco 49ers, putting the rest of the league on notice. Jacksonville would hammer every opponent except one that season; the Tennessee Titans.

In the playoffs, it appeared a formality that the Jaguars would advance to the Super Bowl. In the Divisional round, Jacksonville absolutely destroyed the Miami Dolphins, 62-7, sending both Dan Marino and Jimmy Johnson into retirement. However, the Titans would rear their ugly head once more. The Jaguars lost for a third straight time to Tennessee, falling 33-14 at home.
