Mr. Money In The Bank Sheamus was victorious over Randy Orton at WWE SummerSlam

Kicking off WWE SummerSlam 2015 was the match that very few had been waiting to see again. Two of the company’s stalwarts in Randy Orton and Money In The Bank Contract holder Sheamus squared off in the ring. Their feud reached a head two weeks ago on RAW when Orton cost Sheamus his attempt to cash in his contract, leading to this match.

The match began with Sheamus fleeing the ring and grabbing a microphone atop the announce desk, proclaiming that the crowd looked stupid and not him. Orton was having none of that, coming out and bringing the Irishman tumbling down. Orton got some offense in, including I nice dropkick:

However, Sheamus controlled much of the early action in the match. Sheamus punished Orton with some grinding backbreakers and rest-holds. It seemed like everything that Orton would try to do to gain any kind of momentum, Sheamus had an answer for it. However, Orton was able to finally get some strikes in and take down Sheamus, which then led to a beautiful Exploder Suplex to the outside:

The Celtic Warrior fought back again, though. He was able to muster the strength to get position on Orton and put him in an inverted Cloverleaf submission. Orton was able to get to the ropes to break the hold, which then gave him the separation to get the upper hand again and hit an apron-DDT from the top turnbuckle:

The RKO made an out-of-nowhere appearance soon after as Sheamus tried to get rolling again with a battering ram and was caught by Orton:

Mr. Money In the Bank made a quick decision for survival, rolling out of the ring after being RKO’d. Orton then got Sheamus back between the ropes and tried to deliver a punt. That was unsuccessful and was instead met by a countering Sheamus who hit Orton with White Noise. Sheamus then lined up for the Brogue Kick and then another. That was all she wrote for Orton, making Sheamus the winner in the opening match.
