There’s a pretty slick viral video coming out of the competitive world of trick tee shots from this past weekend. Check the below video of a girl going bangerang off the tee and then let’s break it down.

Heel flip

Really smooth motion. Has a nice flick to it. Feels like a young Ronaldo. Not fully developed, but you can see the shades of greatness that are to come.

Grade: A

Bounce Pass

Again, solid form on this one. Could be a little more fluid, but that might have something to do with the ground – morning dew can play a role here. Behind the back is a nice touch. A little too much on the upswing following the heel kick, and a shaky set up for the stance but overall a nice transitional move.

Grade: B+

Juggle

Here’s where she makes up for everything. While the hands/arms are fighting for a proper stance, the feet are on another plane. The dismount kick is perfect – just enough to drop the ball, while also getting the tee out of the way. It’s the precision of a Greg Maddux throw, just placing that ball exactly where she wants it. Followed by a textbook one-kick juggle to bring the ball into her hot zone. It’s as if Steve Nash and Lionel Messi took over her body to deliver the perfect dime.

Grade: A+

Swing

The shoulders and elbow dip a little bit at the point of impact, costing her some power. The stance is solid up until the follow-through, at which time things narrow out. Would like to see a little more fluidity in the bat after impact. A wide follow with the bat also takes some speed off.

Grade: B

Overall

While the hand speed and coordination are still a work in progress, her footwork is off the charts. The precision placement of the ball compensates for slower hands and a lengthened swing. Once she matures and quickens the hands, it’s game-over for opponents. Solid upside and a blue chip prospect.
