8. Alex Rios-OF-Kansas City Royals: Justin Verlander is coming off one of his best performances in a long time as he takes the mound tonight against the Royals.  One hitter he won’t be happy to see in the KC lineup is Alex Rios who is 17-46 (.370) in his career against the Detroit starter with four doubles, two triples, and six RBI.

7. Brian Dozier-2B-Minnesota Twins: Not many hitters have any kind of positive history against White Sox ace Chris Sale, but Dozier is actually a surprisingly solid play tonight based on his power numbers against Sale in the past.  While he is 10-33 (.303) against Sale, the impressive part of Dozier’s past against Sale is his three doubles, three homers, and nine RBI against the Chicago starter.

6. Scooter Gennett-2B-Milwaukee Brewers: Another 2B option with much less power but also at a much lower cost is Scooter Gennett of the Milwaukee Brewers.  Gennett is also taking on an ace tonight, but he has managed to go 7-14 (.500) with a double against Pirates’ starter Gerrit Cole.  Even in what looks like  a rough matchup Gennett is a solid sleeper play.

5. Paul Goldschmidt-1B-Arizona Diamondbacks: The third and final D-Back to target for tonight is their biggest bat of all.  Paul Goldshmidt has a good history against Kyle Kendrick coming into tonight’s game having gone 6-13 (.462) with two doubles and three RBI in their previous meetings.
