Leatherface: New poster gives fans a glimpse inside Texas Chainsaw Massacre Origin Story
Millennium Films has unveiled a new poster for the upcoming film Leatherface that gives fans a glimpse into the Texas Chainsaw Massacre origin story.
Every good story has a beginning. Unfortunately, there comes a time when Hollywood takes its toll on a franchise and the true origins of a story, no matter how compelling, gets lost in the chaos. This is especially disconcerting when it comes to the origin story of a well-known villain.

Now, it seems as if we are about to get an in-depth look at the one of the most notorious (and twisted) villains in the history of horror films and how they transformed from a normal young man and into a chainsaw-wielding maniac. The upcoming film Leatherface will take fans back all the way back to the beginning of one of the most gruesome tales in horror history, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The story will take us back to the teenage years of a young Jackson Sawyer as he spends his teenage years locked up in a mental institution. Mysteriously, Sawyer is able to escape the institution along with three other inmates, kidnap an unsuspecting young nurse, and embark on a road trip from hell; one that will lead them on one of the most brutal and bloody massacres in Lonestar State has ever seen.
Earlier today, Millennium Films – along with Lionsgate – released the official poster for the upcoming horror film that gives The Texas Chainsaw Massacre fans their first look at the origin story of the young and twisted Leatherface.
Directors Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury have been brought on to direct the upcoming film. This is definitely not the duo’s first trip into the depths of the horror movie genre. The duo are also responsible for horror films like Inside, Livid, and The ABC’s of Death 2.
According to IMDb, the screenplay for the film has been penned by screenwriter Seth M. Sherwood. This will serve as Sherwood’s first feature-length film project behind the pen. The title role in the film will be portrayed by EastEnders star Sam Strike. The Texas Ranger who will be hot on Leatherface’s trail, Hal Hartman, will be portrayed by Stephen Dorff.
Any self-respecting horror fan has seen at least one of the incantations of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the course of their movie watching lives. We all know who Leatherface ended up as, but how he got to where he is now has been largely a mystery.
This is not the first time we have watched a seemingly innocent young child transform into an uncontrollable monster striking fear into the hearts of everyone who crosses their path. Another child that made its way to horror movie icon is a young Michael Myers in the Halloween franchise.
It will be interesting to see how the gruesome origin story plays out on the big screen. The one thing we know for sure is the tale is bound to be a shocking tale soaked in blood.
Leatherface is scheduled to be released sometime in 2016.
