The Houston Texans just cut two of your favorite Hard Knocks players
By Josh Hill
The NFL roster cut deadline was on Saturday, and two of your favorite players from Hard Knocks have been cut by the Houston Texans.
If you’ve been watching HBO Hard Knocks this season, you’ve probably identified with a few of the players that the cameras have focused on. As per usual with HBO, the show zeros in on not the stars of the team but those players who are fringe contenders to make the team. They make you invest emotionally in these players by showing them around the team, around their family and telling of their struggles to get where they are.
But the NFL is a tough business, and not everyone is cut out to make a roster — most notably just about everyone that Hard Knocks makes you feel for. On Saturday, NFL rosters needed tone cut down to 53-men, and that meant plenty of Hard Knocks subjects were axed from the roster with just a week to go before the regular season starts.
Two of the cut casualties were Kourtnei Brown and Charles James.
James was the player who won players over with his goofy socks, which he dubbed his lucky socks which put him in a comfort zone and allowed him to focus on winning a job. He also wasn’t afraid to reprimand players who were slacking off and possibly costing him a job — something that happened anyways.
Brown struggled to gain footing with the Texans, but fans were locked in on his story about how he has never made an NFL roster and triumphed with his achievements this training camp. But he too was cut from the Houston roster on Saturday, and has once again failed to make a regular season roster.
We will be able to see these players one last time on Tuesday, when the season finale of Hard Knocks airs on HBO at 10pm ET.
