The Miami Dolphins have added themselves a quarterback to their roster in the form of Logan Thomas

With just a week to go until the NFL regular season gets underway and with the final cuts being made on Saturday, teams are starting to load up on players that are available. One of the teams that made a pretty notable move on Sunday was that Miami Dolphins, who claimed former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Logan Thomas.

Thomas, from Virginia Tech, was drafted with the 119th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Cardinals and some expected that he might be the future of the franchise after the Carson Palmer era eventually comes to an end. Seen as a project, there was no better coach that he could spend him time with than Bruce Arians.

Unfortunately, though, while Thomas showed minimal improvement from the horrible final two seasons he had at Virginia Tech, it wasn’t enough for the organization to move forward with him on the roster. After leading Virginia Tech to the Sugar Bowl in 2011, people had called him the second coming of Cam Newton and believed he could have been a first-round pick. Instead, his last few years at VT hurt that stock.

Now, though, he’ll get another chance to keep his progression with the Dolphins. With Ryan Tannehill firmly in the driver’s seat at the position now and for the foreseeable future, Thomas probably won’t see a lot of playing time. But for the time being, he still has a job in the NFL.
