New York Mets ace Matt Harvey has announced that he will pitch in the postseason if New York clinches a spot.

There was a lot of drama in New York over the Labor Day weekend, and most of it had to do with off-field issues that sent fans into a rage. Matt Harvey made it known that he was on a pitch count this season and made it sound like he wasn’t willing to go over that innings limit that was set for him.

It’s not that he was on an innings limit that caused anger in New York, it was the idea that said innings limit might be something that keeps Harvey out of pitching in the postseason.

Harvey used the Player’s Tribune to make the announcement that he will indeed pitch for the Mets if the make it into the postseason this year.

"You’ve heard about the 180-185 innings cap. That seems to be the number that will allow me to pitch into the postseason. Regardless of those numbers, I hope everyone knows: I have always wanted to play. I have always wanted to pitch every single chance I get.Especially in the playoffs."

This seemingly ends the rager that Mets fans have been on since yesterday when Harvey made his season-long pitch count known to the public. Mets fans were incensed over the idea that the best pitcher on the staff was going to be shelved if the team made the postseason, simply to preserve his arm for the long term future of the club.

It has been years since the Mets were any good or in a position to contend for a spot in the postseason like they are this year, and the idea of subtracting Harvey from that equation didn’t seem to make a lot of sense. But all those fears have been put to rest, and the Mets are going to have Harvey at the ready if the postseason is indeed in their future.
