The Miami Dolphins decided that they didn’t want to go through with the Logan Thomas experiment after all
Part of the NFL cuts that surprised some people this past week was the Arizona Cardinals cutting ties with former Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas. However, he was not out of a job for long, as the Miami Dolphins quickly claimed him off waivers. Unfortunately, though, this didn’t last all that long, as the team announced on Friday that they’ve decided to cut ties with him as well.

Thomas was taken late in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Cardinals and there were some that believed Bruce Arians, of all people, could be the one to turn him into a passable NFL quarterback. After about a year of trying, however, Arians and Co. decided that they wouldn’t be able to pull it off.
As for why the Dolphins claimed Thomas off of waivers in the first place, that did confuse some people. If anything, he might have been turned into a somewhat serviceable backup to Ryan Tannehill, who isn’t going anywhere anytime soon in Miami. But, either way, any plans for Thomas in Miami have been scrapped.
From here, you have to wonder what teams might take a flyer on the former Hokies star who saw his draft stock dramatically decline following his amazing 2011 season. There might be at least one more team out there who can fit him onto their roster for some reason or another. Or, as always, there’s Canada to try and get things back on track.
