Last season as a rookie, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. burst onto the scene in a major way. After battling injuries to start his first campaign, Beckham quickly cemented himself as not just one of the best rookies in the game, but one of the best overall wide receivers with his speed and flashy one-handed catches. Because of this, you can imagine that his jersey sales are beginning to really take off heading into 2015 here.
Well, they certainly are. According to the DICK’S Sporting Goods Jersey Report, which reflects sales both nationwide and online, Beckham is the leading jersey seller in five different states heading into the new year. He’s taken over in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, which were previously owned by his quarterback, Eli Manning, Delaware, which was handled by Joe Flacco and Rhode Island, which was mastered by Tom Brady.
Yes, when you take over jersey sales from Tom Brady in one of the New England states, then you know your popularity is really getting off the ground.
Should Beckham continue to rise in the ranks of the NFL elite as his career moves on, there’s really no telling how many more states his jersey sales could conquer. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that he’s really just getting his career off the ground here and he has a lot more to go in the coming years if he can stay healthy.
Last season during that rookie campaign, Beckham caught 91 balls for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. That was only in 12 games played. It’ll be more than fun to watch what he can do with a full season under his belt in New York here in 2015.
