No. 14 LSU Tigers vs. No. 25 Mississippi State Bulldogs
After having their season opener canceled due to severe weather, the LSU Tigers (0-0) head to Starkville, Miss. on Saturday for a showdown with the Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-0) at Davis Wade Stadium.
Mississippi State got their 2015 campaign underway with a 34-16 victory over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. Senior quarterback Dak Prescott had an impressive performance, but the rest of the team struggled to provide any support.
Their defense will be the biggest concern in Week 2, after giving up more than 400 yards to an inferior opponent in their season opener. The Bulldogs’ secondary was the weakest link of the defense, giving up more than 300 passing yards to Southern Miss quarterback Nick Mullens. They will be facing a much more productive offense this week, and must improve in all areas of the defense.
As mentioned above, LSU’s season opener against McNeese State was canceled after more than three hours of weather delays. The Tigers will be led on offense by star running back Leonard Fournette, while linebacker Kendell Beckwith and the LSU defense will attempt to slow down Prescott.
In 2014, the Mississippi State quarterback compiled 373 total yards and three touchdowns, as the Bulldogs pulled off an upset victory. The Tigers return a much more experienced roster this year, and will be out for revenge.
The game will be televised on ESPN, with kickoff scheduled for 9:15 p.m. ET. Live streaming will be available via Watch ESPN.
