The Washington Redskins could be without one of their most experienced defensive players and certainly the leader of their secondary. On Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, cornerback DeAngelo Hall was forced to leave the game with a rib injury, according to Armando Salguero.
Mike Jones of the Washington Post is reporting that Hall is headed to the locker room and his return is questionable. Hall would be a major loss for the Redskins. His presence alongside Chris Culliver, who came over via free agency from the San Francisco 49ers, was supposed to be the backbone of this unit along with Ryan Kerrigan.
The Dolphins also have some very capable receivers. Rokie DaVante Parker showed the ability throughout training camp and Ryan Tannehill also has veterans Greg Jennings and Kenny Stills to throw at. The Redskins are heavy underdogs in the game despite being at FedEx Field.
Washington has been enduring one of the worst preseasons in recent memory. Head coach Jay Gruden talked throughout the winter and spring that Robert Griffin III would be the starter at quarterback. However, Gruden watched as the offensive line did all it could to put Griffin on Injured Reserve against the Detroit Lions in August, leading to a concussion and shoulder injury.
Griffin is now sitting third on the depth chart behind starter Kirk Cousins and backup Colt McCoy. Griffin was labeled as inactive on Sunday against the Dolphins, something o a major slap in the face to the second-overall pick in 2012.
