The Green Bay Packers fended off a feisty Chicago Bears team on Sunday.
Sunday’s game at Solider Field was might tighter than expected, with the Chicago Bears hanging tough against the Green Bay Packers before ultimately falling at home.
Chicago jumped out to an early, 3-0 and even carried a 13-10 lead into the half after Robbie Gould jacked a 50-yarder with eight seconds left in the second quarter.
Unfortunately for the Bears, the second half was a different story. After 45 minutes of screwing around Aaron Rodgers and Eddie Lacy woke up, and the Packers posted 14 unanswered points. By the time Jay Cutler tossed a TD to Martellus Bennett with 34 seconds remaining, it was already too late for Chicago. Green Bay put its onside demons to rest, and collected the 31-23 victory.
Three Stars
Matt Forte – 24 carries, 141 yards, 1 TD
Julius Peppers – 5 tackles (4 solo), 1.5 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss
Aaron Rodgers – 18-for-23, 189 yards, 3 TDs
Odds
Green Bay won the game outright, and managed to (barely) cover the spread. Lines closed with the Packers as 6.5 point favorites.
Next Week
The Packers will host the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday.
The Bears will host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, September 20.
